I had heard nothing but great things about this film, and I was stoked to see it. The animation is spectacular, the concept is unique, and the western and exploitation film reference machine seemed custom-made for me. But something, and I admit my lacking in not being able to pinpoint it, kept me from enjoying Rango. I felt like it was holding me at arms-length. I don't know, I wasn't terribly impressed.
