Missed this at Fantastic Fest last year, but everyone raved about it. That praise was well-deserved. Great movie.

Paul Gandersman and I made a late night double feature out the Ernest Goes to Camp/Jail Blu-ray. It was kind of awesome. I hadn't seen these films in years; they're pretty...special. This one managed to find itself canonized in the annals of Junkfood Cinema.

Incredibly strange movie. Netflix advertised this movie as an actual documentary, it is not. Mark Hamill is brilliant.

Adventures in Babysitting (1987)

Revisit
Format: VHS
Venue: Kay-Kro's Backyard Drive-in

I used to watch this film incessantly as a kid. But it wasn't until I saw it outdoors in my good friend Kayla's backyard that it struck me how much I love it. It's just vulgar enough not to be too sugary but has enough heart and 80s charm to make it a crowd favorite. It isn't just nostalgic good, it's legitimately good.

Despite it being bleak and somewhat problematic, I enjoyed Steven Soderbergh's Contagion. You can hear me contribute to the Spill.com audio review here or read my more personal thoughts on Film School Rejects.

I'm not sure how I forgot to add this one along the way. Should have been an atrocious waste of my time, turned out to be the most fun I have in theaters since the first time I saw Attack the Block. Its greatness warranted the creation of a whole new category for Junkfood Cinema: Junkfood Multiplex.

Rating: Sharktastic!

Warrior (2011)

To be honest, I had no interest in seeing a film about MMA fighting, but then my buddies over at Spill.com asked me to be on one of their audio reviews for the film. I wasn't about to pass up that opportunity so I went to see it. I'm glad I did because Warrior is one of my favorite movies of the year. You can hear all my reasons why on the Spill review here!

Gave it another shot, still don't love it. It's got some great bits, but the script deflates after they get to the snowy parts of Russia.

Last film of the marathon, in the cult/bizarre. It definitely lived up to the bizarre criteria. I like it, but I don't fully comprehend it.

My good friend Jason Murphy often hosts 24hr movie marathons that serve as endurance tests for die hard movie geeks. These are usually horror marathons but this time around, Jason decided to watch one film from as many different genres as possible. I was fortunate enough to be asked to help program this marathon and, taking a page from my Universal Monstrosities marathon, each genre would have two possible films on which the audience would vote. The first film was in the Romantic Comedy category and was my first experience with a Frankie and Annette beach movie.
