G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009)

Revisit
Format: Blu-ray
Venue: Rivendell

Don't think I'd seen this all the way through since theaters, wanted to give it another chance. Still largely insufferable thanks largely to the Wayans brother. Shame.

So good, even better after having watched a few more episodes of Star Trek TOS. Just a good mood movie.

Julie & Julia (2009)

1st View
Format: Cable
Venue: Rivendell

To say this movie is not in my wheelhouse is a chicken a la king-sized understatement. But I found it to be impossibly charming and, considering it's about a girl whose hobby turns into a writing career, personally relevant. I do think the ending is flubbed by the introduction of a needless major conflict that is then never resolved or even mentioned a second time. But other than that, greatly enjoyed Julie & Julia...my man card is in the mail.

Missed this at SxSW. Decent revenge flick that proves Michael Caine is every bit as badass in his old age as he was in his prime.

Ninja (2009)

Format: Blu-ray
Venue: Rivendell

From the director of Undisputed III, and similarly starring Scott Adkins, Ninja is quite silly. However, much in keeping with the Isaac Florentine tradition, the action sequences and stunts in the film are awesome and well worth the price of admission. In any event, it's leaps and bounds better than Ninja Assassin.

Solomon Kane (2009)

Revisit
Format: Blu-ray
Venue: Rivendell

Such a great movie, one of the highlights of Fantastic Fest '09. Luke got the Blu-ray from the UK so I felt it the appropriate opportunity for a revisit. Check out the review I wrote during that Fantastic Fest, you may note my impossibly incorrect assertion that it would definitely get U.S. distribution. Yeah, didn't happen. Sad.

Fast & Furious (2009)

Wanted to fill in my franchise gaps before seeing Fast Five. This was hovering right around mediocre until it got to the underground car chase...then it hit the gas and ventured into unwatchable drek territory. No thanks.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) & Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)

Revisits
Format: Blu-ray & Netflix WI
Venue: Rivendell

Revisiting a couple of my favorites of the last couple years. In a bad mood after the Colts lost in the playoffs but, like clockworks, these films were able to lift my spirits. Movies are awesome.
