It's Alive (1974)
Revisit
Format: 35mm
Venue: Alamo Ritz (Terror Tuesday)
I have never been a big fan of this film, and tonight's screening did little to alleviate the boredom I typically feel while watching it. However, Jacob S Hall's poetic Terror Tuesday Report for Horror's Not Dead presented such an interesting prospective on the film, that I am compelled to give it another shot. Read the review that may have changed my mind.

The Stepfather (1987)
Revisit
Format: 35mm
Venue: Alamo Ritz (Terror Tuesday)
Quickly becoming one of my favorite slasher films with every repeat viewing. In honor of Father's Day, Terror Tuesday hosted a screening of this under-seen gem. My boy Brian Kelley provided the evening's wrapup over at Horror's Not Dead...and here's an article I wrote on the film for Hollywood.com.

Near Dark (1987)

Another wildly successful Terror Tuesday featuring one of my very favorite horror films in 35mm brilliance! Read Noah Lee's writeup of the evening over at Horror's Not Dead. He was a Near Dark noob!

Tourist Trap (1979)
Revisit
Format: 35mm
Venue: Alamo Ritz (Terror Tuesday)
What a night! I love the ever-living shit out of Tourist Trap, such a phenomenal and woefully under-appreciated film. I was fortunate enough to be sitting in the balcony at The Ritz along with my brother and my cousin John to witness this gorgeous 35mm print. My friend JC wrote this little ditty about the evening's proceedings for Horror's Not Dead. Check it!

Troll (1986)
Revisit
Format: 35mm
Venue: Alamo Ritz (Terror Tuesday)
Hadn't seen this since I was a kid. Turns out it's only slightly more coherent than its "sequel" despite living in its imposing shadow. I've put together quite an awesome crew over at Horror's Not Dead to start covering Terror Tuesday and contributing original content. Our own Jacob Hall breaks down the madness that is Troll. Check it out!

This will be the first movie covered for the new and improved Terror Tuesday Report at its new home on Peter Hall's Horror's Not Dead so you'll be able to read my thoughts over there. For now, let me just say that it is a fun, fitting 80s horror sequel. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Night Train to Terror (1985)
1st View
Format: 35mm
Venue: Alamo Ritz (Terror Tuesday)
The Good: As terrible as this film was, there is no substitute for the experience of seeing a 35mm print (of which there is only one in this case) of a film this obscure.
The Bad: Everything about this film...everything. It is a anthology horror film that basically just co-opted three other films (one of which ran out of money before it could be finished) the producers of which may or may not have lent their permission to the makers of Night Train to Terror to use but definitely did not. This film was so bad, my cheeks hurt from laughter, I guess you could call that a win.
The Weird: Again, I could list a multitude of things. But the strangest part of this, considering these vignettes were films never intended to be shown together, was the fact that Richard Moll of Night Court was in not one but TWO sections.

Blood Rage (1987)
Revisit
Format: 35mm
Venue: Alamo Drafthouse
The Good: First Terror Tuesday of 2011 was a smashing success. When I first saw this film at BTSjunkie's Horror Movie night, it was hard to find anything redeeming. But this beautiful 35mm print proves that, while this is in fact a bad film, it displays a level of technical competency of which I was totally unaware. There's a difference between a bad movie and one so bad as to be a chore to sit through...this is the former. Lots of good gore.
The Bad: Blood Rage is pretty camptastic. It's a special kind of awful that never fails to entertain. The premise is an absurd Halloween ripoff with the slight twist that the crazy brother who escapes and comes home is actually SANE! The performance of Louise Lasser as the mother is so bugnuts insane as to call into question the use of method acting when it involves a cement mixer full of scotch.
The Weird: This movie was actually made in 1984 but a combination of the extreme gore and the fact that it sucked hard delayed its release three years. There are presently three cuts of this film in existence: the neutered "gore-free" version, the hardcore sloppy version, and a version somewhere in between. The middle lane version was the one shown at Terror Tuesday.
